Massworks: Focusing on the integration of disability, workforce development, and employment services

Coaching and Teaching Strategies

For many people with disabilities, job coaching is a key ingredient for
their success at work. This training helps employment professionals develop
effective support and teaching strategies for consumers.
By completing this training participants will be able to:
• Explain the role of the job coach to employers, job seekers, co-workers
and family
• Write a task analysis that is part of a systematic training plan
• Develop a workplace supports plan
• Identify strategies for enhancing natural supports
• Create a customized fading plan for a job seeker

• Each online workshop covers the same amount of content as a one-day, in-person training.
• Workshops generally take up to six hours to complete.
• Some workshops include fieldwork activities, practice exercises, or scheduled tele/webconferences, so it is
good to log on early in the month in order to plan your time.
• After that, participation is self-paced and flexible-- learn when you want, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Workshops include a variety of formats: readings, slides, discussion forums, web/teleconferences, videos, professional development activities, assignments.
• Instructors are involved throughout the month to answer questions.

Instructions for accessing online courses are emailed, usually around a week before the course start date.
